The Spongey Stuff

From the earlier post "Post Winter Update 2014", I found out during the last TRDC meeting what "The Spongey Stuff" that is falling out around the N/S front suspension spring/strut.

It's a dead UKC1101. Now these are a ridiculous £15 each via Rimmers. However, I'll also need spring compressors at about £35, the spring is rusty, another £20, the shock is only £100 (!), the gaiter is £7 and various other bits of rubber appear to be another £20.

Classic cars are great.

De Ja Vu

It's not going to rain today so out came the Beast for it's first run out of 2014. And once again, it's a pile of crap. I appear to have lost several cylinders again. I had to keep my right foot constantly bipping the throttle through fear that the engine was going to stall, braking only on the handbrake. At least that works. Why didn't I buy an MX5?

Biblical rain storm imminent?

Post Winter Update 2014

The Winter To Do List was vast. But I didn't get round to doing very many of them. I did do some under-sealing the other day though. I need to have a go at the rusty sills and there is some sponge coming out of the N/S front suspension ...

Eight Cylinders

After weakening the mixture to nothing to get it to pass, Phil "tuned it by ear", the old fashioned way. I can now drive without the choke; it sounds like it has eight cylinders; (ignore the fan belt), here it is:

Look much better don't they?
